The Alleghany Highlands Early Learning Partnership (A.H.E.L.P.) will sponsor two free early literacy outreach events for area families with children up to four years old.
The first program is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 17, at the Jackson River Sport Complex, while the second program is slated for Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Clifton Forge School of the Arts. Both programs begin at 6 p.m.
The "Storytime and Songs" events focus on early literacy, early learning and preschool opportunities in the Alleghany Highlands. Both events will feature a concert by Mark and Mary Anderson, children's recording artists from Charlottesville. The Andersons use music and stories as the joyful pathway to learning for young children, while integrating fun ways to master learning standards for literacy, math and social emotional learning.
The events will also offer story, craft and game game stations for participating children to enjoy. Representatives from Alleghany Highlands Public Schools, as well as the YMCA Early Learning Center, will be on hand to answer any questions regarding local preschool opportunities. Representatives from local early literacy support organizations will also participate in the programs.
For more information or anyone with questions about the events is encouraged to call the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library at (540) 962-3321.
